About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead, direct, and coordinate day-to-day management of project development teams
  • Create preconstruction plans outlining tasks, timelines, and resources
  • Communicate with project teams and stakeholders
  • Manage risk and monitor progress against plans
  • Lead client engagement, contract administration, budget, schedule, procurement, and design management
  • Maintain overall financial responsibility from project start to contract execution
  • Facilitate preconstruction meetings coordinating design, budget, and schedule activities
  • Lead, train, and develop team members
  • Prepare and submit monthly status updates for preconstruction activities
  • Lead subcontractor engagement strategy throughout preconstruction
  • Develop relationships with owners, engineering and design firms, clients, trade partners, and designers
  • Establish deadlines and monitor progress
  • Develop and lead strategies to achieve minority participation requirements
  • Lead acquisition of new work through client, trade partner, and design relationships
  • Foster an environment of inclusion and diversity

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, a related discipline or relevant work experience
  • 10+ years of estimating, cost control, and construction experience required
  • Working for a general contractor on large scale construction projects highly preferred
  • 6+ years leading, developing and motivating teams
  • Detail-oriented, technically sound, and good communication skills
  • Familiarity with conceptual, detailed, and self-perform estimating
  • Understanding of Lump Sum Hard Bid, Progressive GMP, Target-Value Design, Design-Build, and Progressive Design-Build project delivery methods
  • Knowledge and experience with local subcontractor market
  • Ability to make timely and effective decisions
  • Experience managing preconstruction efforts successfully from start to finish
  • Skilled at developing and negotiating relationships with owners, designers, and trade contractors
  • Strong work ethic, leadership, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Alignment to Clark Standards of Excellence
  • DBIA and LEED Accreditation preferred
  • Field experience highly desired
  • Experience with Beck Destini, Assemble, and REVIT is a plus
  • Ability to work on active construction sites and in office settings
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to communicate effectively and read plans and inspect work
  • Ability to work in varying weather, noise, elevated or confined areas, and around moving mechanical equipment
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and respond to time-sensitive matters or emergencies
  • Pre-employment drug “fitness for duty” screening required; random quarterly drug “fitness for duty” tests conducted
