About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide coverage for sick and vacation time across Kinwell clinics in Redmond, Mill Creek, Lynnwood, and Bellingham
- Greet patients and prepare them for physical examinations, including obtaining vital signs, weight, height, reviewing medications and medical history, allergies, and performing ancillary tests
- Assist physicians during patient examinations and treatment
- Provide patients with information regarding their visits and ensure comfort before and during exams
- Set up for and assist in procedures as needed
- Dispense medications and medical supplies as ordered by the physician
- Perform rapid testing, blood draws, and other routine lab procedures as ordered
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing and manage lab-related documentation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms, clinic spaces, equipment, and stockrooms
- Perform routine maintenance checks and sterilization of medical equipment
- Stock clinic rooms and lab areas with necessary supplies and materials
- Maintain inventory and reorder lab and clinic supplies as necessary
- Assist with clinic and clinician schedules to maximize efficiency and patient flow
- Collaborate with Patient Care Coordinators to review visit schedules and support daily clinical huddles
- Facilitate daily huddle review for patients requiring multiple care team resources or special considerations
- Maintain accurate patient visit, test, and treatment documentation in the EMR system
- Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to patient care, clinic operations, and workflow improvements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) by time of hire
- Active Washington state certification through the Department of Health (DOH) as a Certified Medical Assistant or Interim Certified Medical Assistant
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to travel between three clinics in Spokane and Spokane Valley to cover shifts as needed
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care strongly preferred at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA), Red Cross, or Military Training Network (MTN), or willingness to obtain within 6-months of hire
- Experience using EPIC (preferred)
- Demonstrated clinical expertise and proficiency in clinical procedures
- Demonstrated focus on ensuring quality in patient care
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks while maintaining strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Excellent communication and ability to gather history and current conditions from patients prior to appointments
- Independent decision-making skills and ability to influence others to resolve issues
- Ability to work as a member of a team or independently without supervision or direction
- Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment to handle sensitive and confidential information in a discreet and professional manner
- Ability to stand for long periods and move freely within the clinic setting
- Ability to exert up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Ability to use a keyboard and communicate clearly and understandably in person and over the telephone
- Must provide proof of or complete a written attestation of a religious or medical exemption for influenza and Hepatitis B vaccines; healthcare providers may also be subject to CDC recommended vaccines
