About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Confer with business partners on complex business topics to determine business needs and reporting requirements
  • Extract and analyze data to increase revenue, decrease costs, and/or comply with regulations
  • Organize analysts and monitor technical efforts to accomplish specific goals
  • Design, develop, document, maintain, and review complex ad hoc data extract reports and analyses for Underwriting management
  • Peer review work within the department and across the company
  • Assess peer review skills and processes and collaborate on process improvements
  • Recommend and evaluate improvements to operational databases, data quality, and productivity
  • Organize and implement changes and train team members
  • Test and document results according to department standards
  • Review work for completeness and create and maintain documentation standards
  • Develop dashboards to streamline communication of key data metrics and trends
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems, assess alternatives, and implement solutions
  • Identify, analyze, and research errors found during peer review
  • Evaluate new procedures and direct cross-departmental work to implement solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Health Care Administration, or a related field, or 4 years of work experience
  • 5 years of experience in a data analytics and/or reporting role
  • Strong SQL, Excel, Python, and Access skills
  • Experience with business intelligence and analytics tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Thorough knowledge of a reporting or query programming language, relational databases, and/or related software packages
  • Significant experience in data management and technical writing
  • Excellent problem definition, problem solving, and technical writing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to deal with management at all levels
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to lead work teams to accomplish specific project goals
  • Significant knowledge of health care and the health care industry
  • Knowledge of health insurance concepts and terms
  • Ability to keyboard and communicate clearly and understandably in person and over the telephone
  • Ability to perform essential physical requirements with or without accommodation
