About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Detail and clarify third-party equipment with new or existing vendors
- Primarily work on final engineering projects (>90%)
- Summarize project goals with solution engineering and sales
- Verify technical feasibility requirements
- Determine whether KNAPP-side developments are necessary
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure requirements are met and information is properly distributed
- Clarify additional customer requirements and applicable codes
- Design KNAPP and buyout workstations
- Define integration requirements for third-party equipment within KNAPP or customer scope
- Conduct engineering according to KNAPP standards
- Evaluate project schedules, set priorities, and escalate issues
- Hold regular engineering meetings
- Verify and approve vendor quotes or approval documents
- Determine, check, and release required KNAPP material into production
- Create permit drawings and documents
- Create installation documents and hand them over to the installation team
- Occasionally oversee third-party equipment installations
- Create as-built drawings and update project documents
- Ensure final documents are stored accurately
- Improve departmental standards and engineering efficiency
- Occasionally work on sales-phase projects (<10% of time)
- Guide and supervise solution/sales engineers
- Perform technical feasibility analysis for new projects
- Support cost and technical proposal generation
- Support requests for quotes from third-party vendors and subcontractors
Requirements
What you’ll need- 0-3 years’ experience with specifying, engineering and approving standard material handling equipment such as packaging machines, carton handling machines, spiral conveyors, flow racks, tote handling machines, totes, work stations, platforms, mezzanines, compressors, belt curves, flex conveyors, telescopic belt conveyor, etc.
- Ability to work independently without daily supervision
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle vendor negotiations internally and externally from a technical standpoint
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Excellent math, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- BS Degree in ME, EE, or IE
- Strong experience utilizing CAD tools is a hard requirement
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, with focus on Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint
- Ability to travel by air domestically in the US and internationally, primarily Austria, other parts of Europe, and Canada
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Passport or ability to obtain a passport
- Professional office etiquette is required
