Head of Apprenticeships – Training

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide strategic and operational leadership across apprenticeship and training provision
- Oversee delivery performance, curriculum, quality, compliance, and learner and employer outcomes
- Shape strategy, priorities, investment, and development in response to employer demand, sector change, and organisational goals
- Align workforce capability, delivery capacity, and resources with commitments and growth
- Use financial and performance insight to strengthen efficiency and sustainability while protecting quality and learner outcomes
- Guide development of relevant, rigorous, and engaging programmes
- Oversee funding requirements, audit and inspection readiness, safeguarding, and Prevent
- Develop management capability, structures, priorities, and accountability across operations, quality, curriculum, compliance, and client experience
- Use data and learner and employer feedback to identify risks and lead improvements in retention, achievement, timely completion, and programme impact
- Ensure a joined-up employer and learner journey from onboarding to completion
- Work with Client Partnerships and Sales to align employer expectations, programme commitments, and delivery capability
- Lead through growth, funding, and policy changes while protecting continuity, values, and reputation
- Report directly to the CEO and collaborate with Sales, People, and Digital
Requirements
What you’ll need- Substantial, recent senior leadership experience within an independent apprenticeship training provider
- Strong understanding of apprenticeship and training compliance, curriculum development, delivery and quality assurance
- Experience shaping strategy and translating it into priorities balancing learner outcomes, educational quality and commercial sustainability
- Experience leading through managers, developing leadership capability and bringing interconnected functions together around shared goals
- Sound commercial and financial judgement, including budgets, resource planning and financial implications of delivery decisions
- Track record of improving provision and performance while developing capacity and capability for sustainable growth
- Ability to evaluate opportunities and risks, make considered decisions with incomplete information, and explain recommendations
- Collaborative, people-focused leadership style combining warmth, constructive challenge and high expectations
- Motivation to develop learning provision and the people who deliver it
