Key responsibilities & impact

Investigate complex market abuse cases end to end, including referrals that do not originate as alerts
Present investigation conclusions to senior compliance stakeholders and the business
Review colleagues’ work as a senior reviewer
Serve as an escalation point for alert and case-treatment judgement calls
Contribute to threshold and model reviews and recalibrate detection as trading behaviour, products and market structure change
Support surveillance platform and tooling work by defining detection objectives and validating results
Draft suspicious transaction and order reports and suspicious activity reports
Contribute to market abuse risk assessments and translate identified risks into surveillance coverage

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 4 years investigating market abuse or trading conduct inside a firm subject to market conduct regulation
Track record running investigations end to end, writing findings to a regulator-reliant standard, and presenting conclusions to stakeholders
Solid knowledge of core market abuse typologies across asset classes
Hands-on experience with a surveillance platform such as Scila, Nasdaq SMARTS, Eventus or NICE Actimize
Comfort with SQL or a similar query tool
Exposure to threshold or model calibration, platform integration, or market abuse risk assessment work
Clear, evidence-first written communication and judgement about escalation
Based in the UK, Ireland, Cyprus, or Canada
Fluency in English
Crypto-asset markets exposure is welcomed but not required
Experience mentoring or acting as a senior reviewer for less experienced analysts is a nice-to-have
Experience of surveillance platform implementation or build-out is a nice-to-have
Electronic communications surveillance experience is a nice-to-have
