About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and own high-quality React Native features end to end, from ambiguous client problems and solution design through implementation, launch, measurement, and iteration
Partner with Product and Design to shape responsive and trustworthy financial experiences
Contribute to product discovery, trading, and simplified client journeys
Work with APIs and dynamic or real-time data
Make decisions on state management, rendering, performance, architecture, and reliability
Raise the product-engineering bar through technical discussions, code reviews, collaboration, and product ownership
Help build Kraken’s new app for Asian markets
Guide the team on regional UX and design expectations, firewall and connectivity restrictions, vendors, and tooling such as telemetry solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong React Native experience, including shipping meaningful production applications
Sound architectural and implementation decision-making in a modern mobile codebase
Product-building mindset and strong product judgment
End-to-end feature ownership, including use of metrics, experimentation, client behavior, and feedback
Experience building responsive, data-rich applications using APIs and dynamic or real-time data
Close collaboration with Product and Design in written and verbal English
Experience using AI tools such as Cursor, Copilot, or Claude while retaining engineering judgment and quality ownership
Proven experience building and shipping consumer mobile apps for Asian markets
Understanding of Asian UX and design conventions, technical limitations, firewall and connectivity restrictions, and launch challenges
Ability to explain how regional technical and launch problems have been solved previously
Nice to have: fintech, trading, crypto, payments, or financial technology experience
Nice to have: real-time or streaming data and mobile performance, responsiveness, and reliability experience
Nice to have: mobile and web experience or startup/small-to-medium technology company experience
Nice to have: native mobile experience in Swift or Kotlin
Chinese language proficiency, such as Mandarin, or another Asian language is a nice to have
