About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, optimize, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for high-volume batch processing and low-latency real-time streaming
  • Architect distributed systems and database models across hybrid and cloud-native environments, optimizing performance, scale, and cost
  • Diagnose, debug, and resolve performance bottlenecks across database schemas and distributed data layers
  • Deploy, index, and manage vector databases and semantic layers for AI search, RAG, and agent memory structures
  • Construct secure, high-throughput API endpoints for autonomous systems interacting with distributed datasets
  • Design and configure feature stores for machine learning pipelines and real-time inference
  • Implement data quality and pipeline observability frameworks
  • Log pipeline activities, track metadata lineage, and establish automated testing to prevent schema drift
  • Align technical solutions with industry compliance, security, and data protection regulations
  • Capture deployment insights and document best practices
  • Feed field learnings into Kyndryl’s core technology platforms and frameworks
  • Collaborate across global teams and practices to prioritize customer outcomes
  • Balance rapid software delivery and field prototyping with long-term platform stability and reduced technical debt
  • Move projects from scoping and proof-of-concepts to hardened, production-ready systems in live customer environments

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong, production-grade coding proficiency in Python and advanced SQL optimization
  • Practical experience designing, building, and orchestrating ETL/ELT pipelines using Airflow, dbt, and Kafka
  • Extensive technical expertise in database modeling, distributed computing, and deploying resources within AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Hands-on experience implementing vector databases such as Pinecone, Milvus, Chroma, or Weaviate and vector indexing strategies
  • Working knowledge of data quality, pipeline lineage, and data observability tools such as Great Expectations and DataHub
  • Cloud-native technical certifications on AWS, Azure, or GCP, or demonstrated willingness to achieve certifications during employment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a closely related technical field, or equivalent practical professional experience
  • Prior experience in highly regulated industries such as Financial Services, Healthcare, or the Public Sector preferred
  • Experience scaling deployments with Docker and Kubernetes preferred
  • Familiarity with semantic modeling, metadata management, and AI agent integration patterns preferred
  • Experience building and monitoring CI/CD pipelines, using Git and GitHub, and delivering software under Agile methodologies preferred
  • Advanced technical certifications in database engineering, data architecture, or machine learning preferred
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related discipline preferred
  • Must reside within a commutable distance of Frisco, TX; relocation assistance is not provided
  • May need to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination when working at a client, customer, or partner location
