About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and administer Microsoft SQL Server database infrastructure
  • Define, structure, and document database systems
  • Configure, install, upgrade, patch, and maintain database management systems
  • Manage user access and implement database security policies
  • Develop backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans
  • Support end users and application developers with database-related issues
  • Conduct capacity planning and growth projections based on usage
  • Coordinate database project plans with application, server, storage, and infrastructure teams
  • Support database migrations, server moves, production cutovers, and system upgrades
  • Propose and implement enhancements to improve database performance and reliability
  • Provide L2/L3 DBA support and resolve database and server incidents

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5 to 6 years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration
  • Experience with installation, configuration, upgrades, patch management, database creation, backup/restore, refreshes, and enterprise production and non-production environments
  • Hands-on experience in database monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, indexing, statistics management, database integrity checks, log shipping, database shrinking, storage management, and resolving SQL Server-related incidents and alerts
  • Strong knowledge of database security, access management, vulnerability remediation, clustered databases, backup/recovery processes, audit compliance requirements, workstation security, asset management, and user access revalidations
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting, Idera Diagnostic Manager, SentryOne, ServiceNow, Microsoft Teams, and database automation
  • Experience providing L2/L3 DBA support
  • Experience troubleshooting database and server issues, implementing service packs and patches, supporting database migrations, server moves, production cutovers, and vulnerability remediation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work closely with application, server, storage, and infrastructure teams
  • Ability to evaluate database environments, recommend improvements, document processes, and drive operational excellence and database best practices
