About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and maintain high-volume business logic running on the mainframe
  • Refactor legacy code to enable modern cloud and mobile applications to interact with mainframe core data
  • Monitor architecture and identify opportunities to optimize code and maintain or enhance mainframe performance
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and analyze complex system interactions
  • Extract business logic from legacy systems for migration or integration with cloud-based services
  • Collaborate with a global community of modernization experts and share knowledge

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience working as a software engineer on complex software projects
  • Excellent coding skills and solid development experience with Java, Springboot, Quarkus, GraphQL, Kafka, SpringBatch, and ApacheFlink
  • Debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with software development methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience developing scalable and robust software
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with data mapping, XML/JSON, and REST-based web services
  • Knowledge of architecture design, microservices architecture, containers (Docker & AKS), and messaging queues
  • Deep understanding of OOP and design patterns
  • Knowledge of Azure components
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience (preferred)
  • Certification in one or more hyperscalers (Azure, AWS, and Google GCP) (preferred; certifications can be obtained with Kyndryl)
  • Experience with DevOps tools and modern engineering practices (preferred)
