About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, build, and maintain high-volume business logic running on mainframes
- Monitor architecture and identify opportunities to optimize code and maintain or enhance mainframe performance
- Debug, troubleshoot, and analyze complex system interactions
- Keep mission-critical applications running
- Extract business logic from legacy systems for migration or integration with cloud-based services
- Refactor legacy code to enable cloud and mobile applications to interact with mainframe core data
- Collaborate and share knowledge with a global community of mainframe modernization experts
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience working as a software engineer on complex software projects
- Excellent coding skills and solid development experience with Java, Python, .Net, or similar
- Debugging and problem-solving skills
- Experience with software development methodologies
- Demonstrated experience developing scalable and robust software
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
- Experience with data mapping, XML/JSON, and REST-based web services
- Knowledge of architecture design, including microservices architecture
- Experience with containers such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of messaging queues
- Deep understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience (preferred)
- Certification in one or more hyperscalers such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (preferred; certifications can be obtained with Kyndryl)
- Experience with DevOps tools and modern engineering practices (preferred)
