About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and maintain high-volume business logic running on the mainframe
  • Contribute to mainframe modernization initiatives
  • Refactor legacy code so cloud and mobile applications can interact with mainframe core data
  • Monitor architecture to identify optimization opportunities and maintain or enhance mainframe performance
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and analyze complex system interactions
  • Keep mission-critical applications running
  • Extract business logic from legacy systems for migration or integration with cloud-based services
  • Collaborate and share knowledge with a global community of experts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience working as a software engineer on complex software projects
  • Excellent coding skills and solid development experience with Java, Python, .NET, or similar
  • Debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with software development methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience developing scalable and robust software
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with data mapping, XML/JSON, and REST-based web services
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture
  • Knowledge of containers, including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of messaging queues
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience (preferred)
  • Certification in Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (preferred; certifications may be obtained with Kyndryl)
  • Experience with DevOps tools and modern engineering practices (preferred)
