About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build, and maintain high-volume business logic running on mainframes
Refactor legacy code to enable cloud and mobile applications to interact with mainframe data
Monitor architecture and identify opportunities to optimize code and maintain mainframe performance
Debug, troubleshoot, and analyze complex system interactions
Extract business logic from legacy systems for migration or integration with cloud-based services
Collaborate with a global community of experts on mainframe modernization
Support customer success and contribute to modernization projects

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience working as a software engineer on complex software projects
Excellent coding skills and solid development experience in Java, Python, .NET, or similar
Debugging and problem-solving skills
Experience with software development methodologies and developing scalable, robust software
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
Experience with data mapping, XML/JSON, and REST-based web services
Knowledge of microservices architecture, Docker, Kubernetes, and messaging queues
Deep understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience (preferred)
Certification in Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (preferred; certifications may be obtained with Kyndryl)
Experience with DevOps tools and modern engineering practices (preferred)
