About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform analysis of chromosomes, including imaging and karyotyping of cytogenetic specimens
Review test requisitions and gather pertinent details for analysis
Summarize test results using ISCN nomenclature
Distinguish between normal and abnormal test results
Perform and evaluate troubleshooting and document corrective actions
Comply with company policies and procedures
Focus primarily on oncology chromosomes using Applied Spectral Imaging software
Potentially perform onscreen FISH analysis using Metasystems Neon
Work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with some flexibility

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
3 years of experience working in a Cytogenetics clinical laboratory
2 years of experience with cytogenetic analysis of metaphase spreads via computerized images
2 years of experience in Oncology cytogenetics
Computer skills, including effective use of the Internet, email, text messaging, chat applications, and familiarity with Microsoft Office
Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills
Active listening and ability to provide balanced feedback
Strong patient focus
Ability to manage time, conflicting priorities, stress, and professional development
Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision
Dedicated, HIPAA-compliant home office room
Wired internet with a minimum speed of 100 mb/sec
Ability to work remotely effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment while managing competing priorities and demands
