About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups
  • Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests, and other purposes
  • Enter patient information accurately and promptly
  • Process billing information and collect payments when required
  • Prepare collected specimens for testing and analysis
  • Maintain patient and specimen information logs
  • Provide superior customer service to patients
  • Perform administrative and clerical duties as necessary
  • Travel to additional sites when needed
  • Work in a Patient Service Center or Client office
  • Perform skilled specimen collections and represent Labcorp to patients
  • Participate in opportunities for continuous growth within the organization

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • California state-issued Phlebotomy license (CPT)
  • 1 year or more of experience as a phlebotomist
  • Application for a phlebotomy license filed with the California Department of Health at time of hire may meet the license requirement
  • 1 year or more of phlebotomy experience with geriatric and pediatric patients
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English
  • Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • Exceptional customer service
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision
  • Reliable transportation
  • Preferred: 2 years or more of experience as a phlebotomist
  • Preferred: Current or prior experience at Labcorp
