Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the strategic delivery of Alternative Provision, Education Medical Needs and Elective Home Education services
  • Provide operational and strategic support to the Inclusion Service
  • Line-manage elective home education, alternative provision and education medical service leads
  • Provide expert advice, intelligence and insight to inform decision-making and manage risk
  • Oversee quality assurance, commissioning, performance and data systems to drive service improvement
  • Develop integrated inclusion pathways across Alternative Provision, SEND, Early Help and Social Care services
  • Lead teams and partnerships to deliver service objectives, transformation and positive outcomes for children and families
  • Influence policy, funding and investment decisions and oversee significant service budgets
  • Develop and implement strategic business plans and lead ambitious service objectives
  • Collaborate with partners on innovative multi-agency initiatives
  • Establish systems for accurate data collection, statutory compliance, performance monitoring and service evaluation
  • Engage stakeholders, maintain partnerships and undertake political engagement responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver briefings on areas within remit

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience and capability to provide strategic leadership for Alternative Provision, Education Medical Needs and Elective Home Education services
  • Expertise in legislation relating to SEND, Child Missing Education, Elective Home Education and Section 19 of the Education Act 1996
  • Ability to provide expert advice, intelligence and insight to inform decision-making and manage risk
  • Experience overseeing quality assurance, commissioning, performance and data systems
  • Ability to develop integrated inclusion pathways across Alternative Provision, SEND, Early Help and Social Care services
  • Ability to lead high-performing teams and partnerships
  • Ability to influence decision-makers and engage effectively with stakeholders at senior levels
  • Ability to prepare and deliver high-quality briefings
  • Commitment to continuous professional development, statutory compliance, performance monitoring and service evaluation
  • DBS disclosure required if successful
  • Must not require international sponsorship
