About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Run semi-monthly payroll end to end: inputs, validation, approvals, and journal entries
  • Handle source deductions and remittances, year-end slips (T4/RL-1), and Records of Employment (ROEs)
  • Reconcile payroll liabilities, benefits, and pension accounts; coordinate with EOR providers for non-Canadian staff
  • Help manage the full accounts payable cycle: invoice intake, coding, approvals, and payment runs (CAD, USD, and other currencies)
  • Maintain vendor records, respond to vendor questions, and reconcile vendor statements
  • Track and record monthly accruals and prepaid expenses
  • Prepare monthly revenue reports from Stripe and other payment platforms: balance and transaction exports, pivot tables, foreign exchange, and journal entries
  • Reconcile sales tax collected (GST/QST, VAT, and US sales tax) and provide figures for filings
  • Reconcile revenue to bank accounts and the general ledger (GL), investigate variances, and support deferred revenue schedules
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations for assigned areas within the monthly close calendar
  • Support year-end audit requests and document processes and internal controls
  • Identify ways to automate or simplify recurring work

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience, ideally within a SaaS, subscription, or e-commerce business
  • Hands-on experience with Canadian payroll, including Quebec requirements
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, and reconciliations); experience with Stripe is an asset
  • Comfortable working with multiple currencies and entities
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage deadlines independently without close supervision
  • Bilingual in French and English. English proficiency is required, as the role involves working with an international team, particularly in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the rest of Europe
