About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead, manage, and supervise KM colleagues, including KM Counsel and KM Lawyers
  • Provide guidance and support the growth and development of the KM Team
  • Develop a framework and oversee practicing lawyers’ involvement in the Practice Group’s KM activities
  • Allocate workflow and responsibility between practicing lawyers and the KM Team
  • Provide recommendations on KM Team recruiting strategy
  • Distill internal deal and matter datasets to prepare market insights for internal and external use
  • Monitor legal, regulatory, and market landscapes and identify emerging trends
  • Lead development of materials communicating trends to practice group members, clients, and prospective clients
  • Collaborate with Technology & Information Services leadership and the Legal Innovation team
  • Drive development and implementation of AI-based workflows for extracting and analyzing key provisions from Firm databases and operative documents
  • Protect and maintain highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and proprietary information
  • Develop and execute the Practice Group’s KM strategy, priorities, resourcing, programs, activities, and workflow
  • Report to the Director of Global Knowledge Management and collaborate with Practice Group Chairs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • JD or equivalent
  • Admission to at least one US State Bar or other jurisdiction in which the firm operates
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible practice management experience in a legal or other professional services environment
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a management role
  • Minimum of eight (8) years as a practicing attorney with a leading international law firm
  • Significant experience in finance transactions
  • Deep subject matter knowledge of finance transactions, including market standards, deal and matter structures, and regulatory frameworks relevant to KM resource development
  • Ability to quickly and fully understand the Practice Group’s strategy and priorities
  • Ability to quickly build a deep understanding of the areas of expertise and services provided by the Practice Group and KM Team
