About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead, manage, and supervise KM colleagues assigned to the Practice Group, including KM Counsel and KM Lawyers
  • Guide KM colleagues and support their growth and development
  • Develop and oversee implementation of a framework for practicing lawyers’ involvement in Practice Group KM activities
  • Ensure appropriate allocation of workflow and responsibility between practicing lawyers and the KM Team
  • Provide recommendations on KM Team recruiting strategy
  • Distill extensive internal deal datasets to prepare market insights for internal and external use
  • Monitor the deal landscape and identify emerging trends for practice leadership
  • Lead development of materials communicating market information to practice group members, clients, and prospective clients
  • Collaborate with Technology & IS leadership and the Legal Innovation team
  • Drive development and implementation of AI-based workflows for extracting and analyzing key deal provisions from firm databases and operative documents
  • Protect and maintain highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and proprietary information
  • Report to the Director of Global Knowledge Management and collaborate with Practice Group Chairs
  • Develop and execute the Practice Group KM strategy, establish priorities, ensure adequate resourcing, and oversee KM activities and workflow

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Deep subject matter knowledge of litigation, regulatory, or tax practices, including market standards, deal structures, and regulatory frameworks relevant to KM resource development
  • Strong ability to quickly and fully understand Practice Group strategy and priorities
  • Strong ability to quickly build a deep understanding of Practice Group and KM Team expertise and services
  • JD or equivalent
  • Admission to at least one US State Bar or other jurisdiction in which the firm operates
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible practice management experience in a legal or other professional services environment
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a management role
  • Minimum of 8 years as a practicing attorney with a leading international law firm
  • Significant experience in litigation, regulatory, or tax practices
