About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the revenue lifecycle for a group of billing attorneys or matters
- Ensure compliance with applicable court requirements and filing deadlines
- Act as a trusted adviser and primary point of contact
- Establish and maintain strong internal and external client relationships
- Influence billing behavior and outcomes
- Communicate frequently with billing attorneys, attorney support, and other stakeholders regarding work-in-progress and accounts receivable
- Determine appropriate courses of action and reduce inventory days
- Ensure revenue-lifecycle processes and systems comply with internal and external regulations and legislation, including VAT, Criminal Finances Act Solicitors’ Accounts Rules, and money laundering regulations
- Identify and mitigate associated risks
- Mentor Revenue Operations team members
- Maintain a high-quality, punctual service for the office or practice group
- Promote best practices for matter maintenance and conversion of work in progress to cash
- Advise on matter opening and closure, billed on account, inventory management, and write-offs
- Protect and maintain sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and proprietary information
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting or a related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a law firm setting
- Minimum of five (5) years of cumulative professional experience
- Well-developed professional interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact with people at all organizational levels
- Ability to take initiative and work independently and in a team-leadership capacity
- Customer-service focus
- Organizational skills to manage time, prioritize effectively, handle multiple deadlines, and supervise others
- Ability to use independent judgment for decision-making
- Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement from the Washington, DC office
