About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Run LaunchDarkly's Product Security team and partner with the Director of Security
Build a risk-led Security operating model in which engineering teams own their security health and Security informs, guides, and validates
Manage the team's work portfolio, allocate time, and assign highest-priority work
Simplify security-work ownership, automation, and processes across the engineering organization
Guide product engineering teams in owning their security health and route findings with mapped severity
Own the wiring and routing of security findings and requests, reducing noise and human decision-making across intake, triage, and review
Serve as incident manager of record for security incidents and first escalation for service-level commitments
Approve vendor and access decisions on a delegated basis
Cover the Director's operational duties during audits, board cycles, or vacation
Publish monthly service-level attainment, quarterly executive posture, and a risk register driving priorities

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of experience in a formal security or engineering management role, including managing senior engineers
Experience moving a security function from gatekeeper to team ownership, with measurable results
Experience as incident manager for security incidents at a SaaS company, including external communication
Experience guiding teams through technical tradeoffs and developing senior engineers' careers
Ability to track and drive metrics, and understand what they can and can't tell you
Familiarity with AWS security at scale and external audits (SOC 2, ISO 27001, or FedRAMP) as a participant or control owner
Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Thoughtful, empathetic approach to leadership and collaboration
Experience leading a security team and operating beyond a gatekeeper model
Experience serving as second leader to a director or CISO
Experience running security incidents end to end, including communications and post-incident review
Strong Senior or Staff security engineering background, including ability to read PRs, threat models, and cloud findings
