About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform hands-on labor including drywall, patching, paint, tile and flooring, light framing, trim, fixtures, and general finish work
  • Demolish existing spaces to prepare for construction
  • Prepare areas for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, tile, and flooring subcontractors
  • Prepare walls for muralists
  • Coordinate on site with the APS team during playground and trampoline attraction installation
  • Identify work drifting off specification or subcontractor shortcuts and report them to the Superintendent
  • Cover the site when the Superintendent is off-site for extended periods, with support from the Superintendent, Project Manager, and Director of Construction
  • Protect completed work and keep the site clean
  • Complete punch list items as they arise
  • Model safe practices and hold trades accountable to them
  • Work from an empty leased space through completion and park handoff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Multi-trade construction experience across drywall, paint, tile, flooring, light framing, trim, and general finish work
  • Prior foreman, lead carpenter, or strong journeyman experience; capability weighs more than title
  • Ability to work independently on the ground while staying in close contact with the Superintendent and MCS team by phone
  • Sound judgment about what to escalate and when
  • Willingness to obtain OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification as required by the company
  • Equipment certifications such as scissor lift or forklift, or willingness to obtain them
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Must pass a background check
  • Able to stand, walk, climb ladders, and move for extended periods on an active construction site
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Tenant improvement experience in retail or interior build-out is a plus
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a strong plus
