About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the company’s data engineering, including hands-on work behind data migrations
Work with the Head of Data to make each migration faster than the last
Build pipelines supporting the Analytics Engineer and product analytics
Build data engineering foundations for Lawrence, Lawhive’s AI agent for legal work
Standardize migration processes across acquired law firms while identifying firm-specific requirements
Work with Analytics Engineering on a shared data model that scales across firms
Implement appropriate data access and privacy controls
Own pipelines, orchestration, infrastructure, security and governance
Keep BigQuery fast and cost-efficient as data volumes grow
Collaborate with staff engineers
Help build data engineering as a central function, with scope to grow into team leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need

Senior data engineering experience at a startup or scale-up
Experience owning production pipelines through to real business outcomes
Experience with data migration and integration from varied source systems
Strong BigQuery or similar experience
Strong Python experience
Experience with orchestration tools such as Dagster, Airflow or similar
Experience across DevOps, infrastructure, security and governance
AI-native working approach with clear judgment about where AI helps
Commercial instinct and focus on business outcomes
Ability to work hybrid with 2 days onsite per week
Ability to work in the UK; visa sponsorship requirements must be disclosed
