About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and coach the internal sales desk's daily operations, activity standards, and performance culture
  • Drive asset growth and qualified appointment setting for external partners
  • Assess sales capability, product knowledge, and commercial judgment
  • Build targeted development plans and address performance gaps
  • Deliver structured onboarding covering the firm, products, systems, sales process, and client segments
  • Run skill-building on product mastery, consultative selling, discovery, prospecting, cold calling, objection handling, and external-wholesaler partnership
  • Listen to live calls and pipeline work and provide real-time feedback
  • Manage career progression toward Hybrid and External Wholesaler roles
  • Oversee licensing paths and ongoing product training
  • Partner with Sales Leadership on distribution strategy and territory coverage
  • Lead team meetings, pipeline reviews, and one-on-ones
  • Use CRM, sales analytics, and AI-enabled tools to track KPIs and coaching needs
  • Ensure sales activity and client interactions comply with firm policies, compliance requirements, and approved messaging

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 10 years in asset management retail distribution, including ownership of an external territory
  • Minimum of 5 years leading and developing field sales talent, specifically internals and hybrids
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and develop early-career sales talent
  • Deep technical knowledge of Wirehouse, IBD, and RIA landscapes, including platform dynamics and advisor workflows
  • Mastery of consultative selling, discovery-based prospecting, and high-impact cold calling
  • Experience using Salesforce CRM and sales analytics for territory planning, desk KPIs, and performance management
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled workflow or coaching tools
  • Ability to collaborate with senior leaders, external wholesalers, Product, Marketing, National Accounts, and Compliance
  • Active Series 7 and 63/65 (or 66) required
  • Series 24 (Principal) preferred, or must be obtained within a specified timeframe
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience with investment management, retirement, insurance, or other financial services products is a plus
