About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Work as a full-stack web developer on a team maintaining and improving one or more Rustici Software products
Maintain existing codebases, ancillary management tools, interfaces, and implementations
Pay down technical debt, fix bugs, improve processes, and develop test code
Write technical specifications for larger features before implementation
Take new features from start to finish through code review and quality assurance
Identify potential improvements and new features using customer feedback and engineering insight
Participate in weekly standups and longer-form technical team meetings
Mentor junior developers by sharing techniques, successes, and failures
Continuously improve technical skills, tools, existing abilities, and business knowledge
Report to an Engineering Manager as an individual contributor

Requirements

What you’ll need

US based only
Direct hire only; no recruiters or contracting agencies
Strong web application development using contemporary frameworks in Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar, particularly in extensible, scalable, performant, and secure implementations
Front-end SPA development using Vue, React, or similar
Experience with HTML and CSS
Experience implementing automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
Experience with contemporary software development lifecycle processes, including agile principles, task estimation, version control, quality assurance, and release management
Experience with a Unix CLI toolset preferred
Experience deploying web applications, particularly in AWS, beneficial
Experience writing technical and/or functional specifications
Experience mentoring other engineers
Experience with cross-team collaboration, including support, product, and operations teams
Ability to code in more than one language and/or familiarity with more than one framework
Ability to balance producing quality code with solving customer problems quickly
Strong communication skills and aptitude for learning new technologies
