About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze cases and claims with potential for mediation
- Contact parties, attorneys, and other stakeholders to negotiate settlements
- Lead and monitor negotiations aimed at reaching amicable resolutions
- Prepare and present settlement proposals in accordance with established parameters
- Record and update negotiations and outcomes in internal systems
- Monitor negotiations through the conclusion of the settlement or closure of the matter
- Track deadlines and outstanding items related to mediation proceedings
- Analyze documents and case information to support negotiations
- Identify settlement opportunities and route matters in accordance with internal procedures
- Liaise with the legal and other departments involved in the negotiation process
Requirements
What you’ll need- Law student or law graduate without an active bar license (Required)
- Experience in litigation, particularly employment litigation, is preferred
- Experience with legal routines, negotiation, mediation, or conciliation
- Knowledge of reviewing and analyzing cases, court publications, and service of process/notices
- Experience assisting and negotiating with clients, attorneys, or parties
- Experience with settlements and amicable resolution negotiations is preferred
- Familiarity with court systems, such as PJe, e-SAJ, eProc, and others
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel (filters, tables, and basic formulas)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Negotiation and persuasive argumentation skills
- Active listening and empathy
- Emotional intelligence to handle conflict situations
- A conciliatory approach and ability to develop solutions
- Proactivity and a sense of urgency
- Analytical ability to understand cases and identify settlement opportunities
