About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform scheduled and ad-hoc meter reads across manual, radio (AMR drive-by), and AMI meters
  • Conduct customer visits to investigate suspected behind-the-meter water waste, assess issues, record evidence, explain corrective actions, and escalate unresolved matters
  • Perform boundary flow and pressure checks to support network balancing
  • Deploy and maintain monitoring technology such as FIDO and other sensors
  • Survey sites to collect information for new meter installations
  • Capture accurate field data for billing, asset records, and audit trails
  • Record inspections and activities in company systems according to governance standards
  • Provide structured feedback to central Revenue Assurance and Asset teams
  • Support continuous improvement in data quality and system accuracy
  • Work from prioritised investigation lists based on risk, value, and operational need
  • Undertake proactive site surveys and targeted investigations aligned to revenue risk and network performance
  • Arrange and undertake customer appointments for water-waste investigations, recording outcomes, actions, and follow-up requirements
  • Liaise with customers, developers, and contractors during investigations and surveys
  • Support resolution of customer billing queries linked to field findings
  • Identify and resolve metering, consumption, and water-usage anomalies
  • Deliver meter reading, survey, and investigation activities safely, accurately, and within agreed timescales
  • Produce reliable field data supporting billing, asset management, reporting, and regulatory compliance
  • Build positive customer relationships through professional appointment and investigation management
  • Identify opportunities to improve network performance and operational processes

Requirements

  • Ability to overcome setbacks and push through obstacles to finish tasks successfully
  • Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively across teams
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Previous experience in utilities metering, revenue assurance, or related operational field (desirable)
  • Knowledge of water network operations and metering technologies, including manual, AMR, and AMI (desirable)
  • Comfortable supporting activities across a wider geographic area and undertaking regular travel to customer and operational sites
