About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Carry out test plans following standard testing procedures for existing and new product designs
  • Test products for internal and external customers
  • Create, maintain, and present test reports with summaries and analysis
  • Maintain continuous communication with design staff regarding test progress and results
  • Provide recommendations to engineering design staff for design improvements
  • Design test fixtures and test setups
  • Troubleshoot testing methods and setups
  • Recommend improvements to test methods and procedures
  • Maintain lab equipment and equipment certifications
  • Initiate and facilitate the ECN (engineering change notice) process
  • Perform first article requirements checking and first production evaluations
  • Utilize UL, TIA, CSA, IEC, and other agency publications and requirements
  • Perform other related laboratory or testing duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of optical fiber connectivity
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, email, and meeting management software
  • Ability to use internet and web-based resources efficiently and effectively
  • LabView and SolidWorks experience preferred
  • IL/RL testing, endface geometry, and visual inspection of connector endface
  • Fiber termination and polishing, and fusion splicing
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Close attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Project management skills, including developing and managing project plans, establishing priorities, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective listening skills and ability to extract necessary information and validate understanding
  • Manual dexterity for mating and removing fiber optic connectors
  • Strong scientific analytical skills and ability to research, summarize information, and make recommendations based on analysis
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
  • Willingness to travel if necessary, typically less than 10%
