About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review project documentation to verify scope and address gaps or conflicts
- Prepare accurate submittals, production drawings, and manufacturing documentation
- Develop project layouts and custom details using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and related custom tools
- Apply product listings, NEC requirements, UL standards, and manufacturing capabilities to design solutions
- Balance customer needs, compliance, manufacturability, cost, schedule, and standardization
- Support Engineering Change Orders and maintain current manufacturing documentation
- Provide technical support to internal and external customers
- Maintain accurate project status, milestones, deliverables, and documentation in designated systems
- Travel on a limited basis to job sites or facilities as needed
- Participate in ideation and collaborative efforts to streamline workflows, reduce rework, and automate repeatable tasks using approved digital and AI tools
- Contribute to initiatives improving products, processes, quality, capabilities, and customer experience
- Ensure quality, completeness, and timely delivery of assigned design work
- Communicate project status, outstanding requirements, risks, and schedule impacts
- Collaborate across functions to support efficient, consistent, and reliable customer execution
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, engineering technology, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered
- 3 to 5 years of experience in project design, application engineering, product engineering, construction documentation, or a related technical industry
- Experience supporting engineered-to-order, configured, or project-based products is preferred
- Strong AutoCAD drafting and system-layout skills
- SolidWorks or comparable 3D modeling experience
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, mechanical, casework, and construction drawings and specifications
- Working knowledge of electrical principles, applicable NEC requirements, UL listings, and product application constraints
- Ability to prepare and reconcile takeoffs, bills of material, submittals, production packages, and installation documentation
- Strong technical judgment, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to first-pass quality
- Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical issues to technical and nontechnical audiences
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, establish priorities, meet commitments, and raise risks early
- Ability to work effectively across functions and locations while maintaining clear ownership and follow-through
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365
- Willingness to learn Salesforce, project management, reporting, automation, and AI-enabled tools used by Project Services
- Customer-focused approach balancing urgency, accuracy, compliance, and practical execution
