About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the first point of contact for patients and support a seamless, high-quality patient experience
- Coordinate and perform patient check-in/check-out, registration, insurance eligibility verification, payment collection, referrals, and appointment scheduling
- Handle patient inquiries and maintain accurate, compliant electronic medical records
- Maintain required logs, including quality control logs and stat cart checks
- Measure and document patient data including vital signs, height, weight, and indicated pediatric measurements
- Assist providers with collecting patient information, including chief complaint, health history, allergies, and medications
- Complete patient rooming, identify patient risks, communicate them to providers, and prepare and sanitize exam rooms
- Collect and prepare lab specimens and complete requisitions
- Administer medications and vaccinations according to provider orders, established protocols, and scope of practice
- Support patient procedures and assist with medical examinations
- Complete follow-up phone calls within two to three days after discharge
- Collaborate with providers, clinical team, and administrative staff to facilitate care delivery
Requirements
What you’ll need- Specialized Diploma as a Medical Assistant or completion of LVPG Medical Assistant Trainee course
- Strong multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in EMR systems, word processing, and Excel
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining efficiency in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and professionalism
- Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
- Knowledge of clinical workflows, medical terminology, and basic patient care practices
- BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association within 30 days
- Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting/standing and keyboard use
- Ability to perform role-specific activities including kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR
- Preferred: Associate’s Degree from a Medical Assistant Program
- Preferred: 1 year customer service experience in a healthcare setting
- Preferred certifications: CCMA, CMA, CMAC, MAC, NCMA, NRCMA, or RMA upon hire
