About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work alongside registered nurses in varied healthcare settings
- Assist with direct patient care, treatments, and diagnostic studies as directed by an RN
- Provide support services as a care delivery team member according to patient needs
- Deliver patient- and family-centered care in accordance with policies and procedures
- Observe patients and communicate findings, changes, or problems to the RN
- Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff, and professional colleagues
- Support unit-based patient experience goals and hospital objectives
- Participate in orienting new staff as assigned
- Perform validated technical skills based on clinical specialty and unit practice
- Use technology to optimize alternative care delivery modes
- Complete quality-control checks on designated unit equipment when applicable
- Conduct patient rounds, anticipate patient needs, and respond promptly to call lights or pages
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED and enrollment in an accredited School of Nursing
- Completion of sophomore year or equivalent in a diploma, ADN, or fast track program, or graduation from a nursing program without obtaining a Temporary Practice Permit
- Proof of 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in patient care delivery
- Successful completion of orientation
- Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies
- Basic computer skills
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 30 Days
- Ability to lift and carry 40–50 lbs.
- Frequent to continuous standing/walking
- Ability to perform kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR as required
