About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure and provide patient care as a responsible and accountable clinical expert, role model, educator, and resource
- Facilitate professional development of staff and evidence-based quality care
- Collaborate with unit leadership to ensure competent staff performance, quality patient outcomes, and regulatory compliance
- Disseminate relevant committee and Patient Care Specialist meeting information and education to staff
- Participate with unit leadership and the Department of Education to meet staff educational needs, including orientation, nurse residency, competency assessment, electronic learning, electronic medical records, continuing education, performance improvement, and professional development
- Provide clinical, consultative, technical, and informational services to clinical staff, patients, and families
- Participate in all phases of performance improvement and unit-based patient satisfaction goals
- Assist in developing and implementing evidence-based policies, procedures, protocols, and standards
- Mentor nurse resident evidence-based practice projects and facilitate dissemination
- Promote quality and safety through evidence-based practice
- Foster staff compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, TJC, DOH, ADA, Point of Care testing, patient safety goals, and mandatory education requirements
- Mentor staff to facilitate team development and collaborative practice
- Serve as an effective resource and liaison to departmental and hospital-network staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in nursing
- 3 years of recent experience in a clinical practice with demonstrated leadership/teaching abilities
- Knowledge and competence reflecting current nursing practice
- Ability to identify clinical problems, review related information, develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions/quality care interventions
- Basic knowledge of evidence-based practice
- Basic computer skills
- BLS (Basic Life Support), American Heart Association, upon hire
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), American Heart Association, upon hire
- RN license, State of Pennsylvania, upon hire
- Ability to lift and carry 40–50 lbs.; perform frequent to continuous standing/walking; and perform role-specific activities including kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR
