About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist radiologists with radiology procedures
- Prepare patients by explaining procedures, checking vital signs, administering medication, and providing care during imaging procedures
- Provide nursing services and carry out physician orders
- Respond to and report patient-condition changes to the attending physician or radiologist
- Oversee medication distribution, chart medications, and distribute/count narcotics
- Assess patients using medical histories, patient history, and laboratory values
- Administer conscious sedation according to hospital policy
- Serve as liaison among patients, nursing staff, and physicians
- Provide patient care, comfort, and procedural support in Radiology
- Communicate status changes, medications, interventions, and transportation information to nurses and physicians
- Initiate post-procedure orders and communicate pertinent information to nursing units
- Discharge patients according to Aldrette score and anesthesia guidelines
- Enter LDA lines and document implanted supply exports in Epic
- Respond to code blues and rapid response teams in Radiology
- Assist radiologists and code teams as needed
- Collaborate with the Pediatric Intensivist on pediatric sedation and follow PALS guidelines
- Perform pre- and post-procedure telephone calls for outpatients
- Follow National Patient Safety Goals, including invasive procedure checklists and patient identification
- Complete patient safety reports
- Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff, patients, and healthcare providers
- Maintain equipment, room cleanliness, supplies, sanitation, and workplace orderliness
- Provide radiation protection according to prescribed safety standards
- Assist with education and training of new employees, students, and ancillary personnel
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate’s Degree Nursing
- 3 years experience in medical/surgical nursing
- 1 year experience in critical care
- Ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patients’ age-appropriate needs
- Ability to select proper instrumentation and supplies appropriate for the patient age group
- Ability to administer moderate sedation
- Dysrhythmia recognition and treatment
- Ability to work under stressful situations
- BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association within 90 days
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - American Heart Association within 90 days
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association within 90 days
- RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania upon hire
- Frequent sitting/standing and keyboard use
- Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.
- Patient care providers may be required to kneel, bend, squat, and perform CPR
