About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and maintain database abstraction of clinical data from multiple sources
- Abstract and submit all required data elements into the Collector system as required by PTSF
- Communicate information to the Trauma Team regarding trauma audit filters or identified care issues
- Identify all trauma patients admitted to LVH and encountered by the trauma service
- Flag trauma patients in the EPIC system
- Compile data following NTDS and NTRACS data requirement guidelines
- Complete abstracts of all data from admission to discharge on assigned charts
- Collect patient records before and after discharge for review, analysis, and diagnosis entry into the trauma registry database
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED
- 1 year in a health care-related field, or 1 year abstracting clinical information into a database, or 1 year billing or coding certificate or degree, in progress or complete
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and pathophysiology
- Proficient in Windows computers and data entry
- Proficient in EPIC
- Preferred: Knowledge of Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF)
- Preferred: Experience with ICD-10 Coding
- Preferred: Experience in abstracting, billing and/or coding
- Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting/standing and keyboard use
- Patient care providers may be required to kneel, bend, squat, and perform CPR
