About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Train and coach cooks on food production and food safety
  • Promote participation in Frisco ISD Child Nutrition Programs by developing cafe employees' culinary skills
  • Support consistent production of high-quality products across all locations
  • Prepare and facilitate Food Handler, Kitchen Basics, and Frisco ISD Food Safety Program training for new-hire cooks
  • Assist with ServSafe Manager Certification training
  • Provide on-the-job training and coaching for new and existing employees
  • Monitor food preparation and portioning for compliance with standardized recipes
  • Provide feedback to employees and supervisors regarding noncompliance with standard operating procedures
  • Assist with training initiatives and develop training materials for Child Nutrition Cafe staff
  • Support new concepts and special projects; develop, test, and modify standardized recipes
  • Train cafe staff on new recipes
  • Provide on-site equipment training
  • Communicate with Operations and Maintenance regarding equipment operating procedures
  • Document and report school findings, personnel issues, resolved problems, and training performed
  • Assist in preparing meals for District catering events
  • Assist with cafeteria operations, including cashiering or cooking as needed
  • Ensure compliance with Frisco ISD and Child Nutrition Program handbooks and standard operating procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current ServSafe Manager Certification or approved alternative
  • Certified ServSafe Instructor and/or Registered ServSafe Proctor, or ability/willingness to obtain
  • Demonstrated ability to perform all food production tasks at an expert level
  • Comprehensive understanding of ServSafe and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) policies
  • Ability to adjust the pace and style of coaching to meet participants' learning needs
  • Working knowledge of adult learning principles
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to present and facilitate training for groups of up to 50 people
  • Ability to influence and guide others without formal authority
  • Ability to properly use, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment
  • Ability to develop and test new recipes
  • Ability to perform basic math
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the internet
  • Previous customer service experience
  • 3 years of food service experience
  • Previous training experience preferred
