About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in Health Care Science
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the district curriculum
- Prepare lessons accommodating differences in student learning styles
- Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations
- Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment
- Assess student learning styles and use results to plan instruction
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula according to IEPs
- Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods
- Plan and supervise teacher aide and volunteer assignments
- Use technology to strengthen teaching and learning
- Support student study methods, habits, achievement, and development
- Conduct formal and informal assessments of student achievement
- Assume assigned extracurricular responsibilities and sponsor approved outside activities
- Create a classroom environment conducive to student learning and development
- Manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct and handbook
- Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Communicate with parents, students, principals, teachers, and community members
- Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and staff committees
- Maintain compliance with state, district, and school regulations
- Compile and maintain required physical and computerized reports, records, and documents
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
- Demonstrated competency in the academic subject area assigned
- Knowledge of academic subject assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
- Ability to perform frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing
- Ability to move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment
