About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the assigned academic subject area
- Develop and implement lesson plans meeting district curriculum requirements
- Prepare lessons accommodating differences in student learning styles
- Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations
- Plan and use instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment suited to students’ learning styles and needs
- Assess student learning styles and use results to plan instruction
- Cooperate with special education teachers to modify curricula according to Individual Education Plans
- Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods
- Plan and supervise teacher aide and volunteer assignments
- Use technology to strengthen teaching and learning
- Help students improve study methods and habits
- Conduct formal and informal assessments of student achievement
- Assume assigned extracurricular responsibilities and sponsor approved outside activities
- Serve as a positive role model and support the school district’s mission
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and student development
- Manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct and handbook
- Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Communicate with parents, students, principals, and teachers through conferences
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members
- Participate in staff development activities
- Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies
- Compile, maintain, and file required physical and computerized reports and records
- Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required

Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
- Demonstrated competency in the academic subject area assigned
- Knowledge of academic subject assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
- Ability to perform frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing
- Ability to move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment
