About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Diagnose, adjust, repair, and overhaul port equipment, including harbor mobile cranes, reach stackers, and ship cranes
- Test and modify electrical machinery, electrical control equipment, and circuitry
- Test and modify mechanical machinery and equipment
- Operate mechanical boom and cable equipment to troubleshoot machine problems and evaluate repairs
- Test repaired or modified equipment for performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications
- Repair and replace damaged or worn parts
- Operate and inspect heavy equipment to diagnose defects
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools
- Clean, lubricate, and perform routine equipment maintenance
- Inspect and diagnose malfunctions using handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges
- Inspect parts, dimensions, and clearances for compliance with factory specifications
- Complete paperwork, work reports, timesheets, expense reports, and related documentation
- Maintain quality standards through visual and mechanical inspections
- Promote established safety procedures and handle hazardous waste appropriately
- Prepare jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness
- Assist customers with troubleshooting and part-related questions
- Attend required training sessions and maintain technical awareness
- Care for company tools, machines, and equipment
- Temporarily assume lead-person duties as necessary
- Train and mentor other department employees
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school graduate or GED
- At least 5+ years direct experience with Liebherr Port Equipment as a technician
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 80% of the time
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and on-call duty
- Demonstrate working knowledge of Crane Management software
- Successfully complete factory-authorized training
- Maintain a minimum set of tools required for job performance
- Read, understand, and interpret operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Complete jobs independently with little assistance from others
