About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Carry out maintenance on machines, optimise functionality, and ensure machines are in safe working order.
  • Perform maintenance, repair, and installation of miscellaneous machines and services throughout the factory.
  • Work according to preventative maintenance schedules, job cards, and procedures.
  • Maintain records manually or using a PC-based recording system.
  • Record service and preventative maintenance activities and sign off completed job cards.
  • Update the shift handover logbook at the end of shifts.
  • Update spare parts logs and store inventories, recording parts used.
  • Provide feedback on machinery weak points and further maintenance requirements.
  • Develop skills, knowledge, and competencies regarding machine maintenance tasks.
  • Liaise with operators, chargehands, supervisors, and others to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Check machine manuals, drawings, and preventative maintenance schedules when required.
  • Remove machines from service where operation could pose a health and safety risk.
  • Complete training on current and future machines and services, potentially involving travel abroad.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A qualified Fitter or other relevant related qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ previous experience in a maintenance department.
  • The ability to work at heights and in confined spaces is essential.
  • Basic PC skills are required.
  • Experience in the use and/or maintenance /repair of overhead cranes and lifting equipment would be an advantage.
  • Experience with heavy steel construction environment would be an advantage.
  • Must be available to work 06:30 – 15:00 / 15:00 – 23:30 Monday to Thursday and 06:30 – 12:30 / 12:30 – 18:30 on Fridays.
