About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise the day-to-day activities of a residential program supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Model leadership and appropriate support practices for residential staff
  • Encourage client engagement, independence, relationships, and participation in activities
  • Identify and respond to abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and client-rights violations
  • Ensure infection-control procedures and health, wellness, medical, therapeutic, and dental care requirements are followed
  • Maintain accessible and accurate client health and wellness records
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individual support plans with clients and their support networks
  • Develop positive behavior support plans focused on prevention of challenging behaviors
  • Maintain client records in compliance with privacy, confidentiality, HIPAA, and data-management requirements
  • Facilitate community inclusion in education, recreation, leisure, retirement, and employment opportunities
  • Coordinate with community agencies and client support networks
  • Facilitate teamwork, manage conflict, and respond to questions and crises while on-call or providing remote supervision
  • Coordinate staff meetings and promote trust, openness, participation, and ownership
  • Coach, train, and provide feedback to staff
  • Complete staff performance reviews and support staff development plans
  • Develop staff schedules within budget and client needs
  • Approve timesheets and leave, secure coverage for vacancies, and follow up on staff injuries and workers’ compensation issues
  • Coordinate services to maintain a safe environment
  • Assist with client financial accounts, bills, and petty cash
  • Complete annual paperwork for Medical Assistance, SSI, and related government benefits
  • Perform on-call duties, including weekends, as needed
  • Complete administrative tasks and maintain current knowledge of secure electronic documentation systems
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state requirements and prioritize, delegate, and complete responsibilities on schedule

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • 1+ year of experience in a supervisory role
  • Must obtain required criminal clearances, potentially including Washington criminal history, FBI criminal history, and child abuse clearances
  • Must complete required TB test, if applicable
  • Must be nurse delegated for client medication administration
  • Must have 12-hour Peer Coach Training
  • Valid driver’s license with driving record meeting agency policy
  • Must pass a drug screen
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification required or must be obtained
  • Must obtain Right Response Certification
  • Able to be an approved signer for checkbooks
  • Proficiency with databases and computer software, including Therap, When I Work, and ADP
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Children’s Program only: must be 21 years of age and have at least six months’ experience working with vulnerable populations
  • Ability to run, squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, lift at least 50 pounds or one-quarter of body weight, push and pull against resistance, and implement physical and non-physical interventions and CPR
  • Ability to lift and transfer clients who need assistance
  • Adequate vision, reading, writing, documentation, and listening skills
  • Ability to adhere to the required work schedule
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including early mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, overnights as applicable, and holidays
  • Ability to assist with loading and unloading vehicle passengers and emergency safety procedures
  • Demonstrated organization and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and use respectful, person-centered language
  • Ability to comply with federal and state rules and regulations
