About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist in English Language Development professional development, compliance, and monitoring of English Language Learner students
  • Support ELD program planning and implementation
  • Observe, assist, and consult with site administrators, teachers, and tutors
  • Meet California Teaching Standards/HQT/CLAD/NCLB compliance requirements
  • Plan programs, coordinate curricular resources, and evaluate ELL program effectiveness
  • Assist teaching staff with planning, organizing, and coordinating staff functions, facilities, and materials
  • Support, train, and coach certificated personnel
  • Develop and coordinate effective and inclusive instructional practices
  • Assist with program evaluation planning, development, and implementation
  • Develop data collection systems, monitor data collection, and provide programmatic recommendations
  • Coordinate course content and assessments
  • Create curriculum maps for the Independent Study instructional design setting
  • Train teachers and tutors on curriculum and instructional strategies
  • Implement, train, and administer state-mandated English Learner assessments (CELDT)
  • Create events, workshops, and committees for parent involvement
  • Participate in ELD staff development, program development, and innovation
  • Attend County Office of Education ELD meetings and share information with the ELD department
  • Manage special projects such as curriculum development
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned
  • Work on ELD projects under the direction of the ELD Director

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor Degree
  • Valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential
  • EL authorization
  • 3 years teaching experience
  • 1 year experience working with English Language Learners
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Proficient in ELL/ELD Programs
  • Proficient in Student Information System software
  • Ability to travel as required in performance of job duties
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • 5 year experience working with English Language Learners preferred
  • Experience with charter schools and independent study settings preferred
  • Currently working toward or holds a valid administrative Services Credential preferred
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing data preferred
  • Experience in curriculum development preferred
  • Experience in creating and delivering professional development preferred
