About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, organize, and deliver an individualized student learning experience in an online environment
  • Utilize provided curriculum, instructional resources, data, and technology
  • Support school-wide initiatives that improve teaching and learning
  • Collaborate with instructional staff and school personnel to support students' academic plans
  • Promote and support the School’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values
  • Provide meaningful, timely assignment feedback through the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Deliver virtual or in-person instructional sessions using best practices in online education
  • Provide supplemental learning materials based on individual student needs
  • Welcome new students within one business day of enrollment
  • Guide students in goal setting and progress monitoring
  • Collaborate with the Academic Coach, parents, and students to assign appropriate courses of study
  • Personalize curriculum with other department teachers
  • Foster a respectful, high-expectation learning environment
  • Establish and communicate clear learning objectives and content standards
  • Monitor and document student progress and communication in the Student Information System (SIS)
  • Implement targeted interventions to support student success
  • Communicate with students and parents at least weekly by phone, text, email, or other electronic means
  • Attend bi-weekly staff meetings
  • Review and evaluate coursework within 48 business hours of submission
  • Administer and grade assessments, providing feedback and retries to support mastery learning
  • Maintain student records according to administrative requirements
  • Perform assigned administrative duties and activities
  • Report to the Head of School or designee

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required
  • Valid State Teaching Credential is preferred but not required
  • Teaching experience required
  • Experience teaching in an online learning environment is preferred
  • Able to work in a rapidly growing and changing environment
  • Strong customer service focused approach with a commitment to student achievement
  • Intermediate level of skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other technology applications
  • Ability to travel in the performance of job duties
  • Knowledge of a variety of educational programs, specifically focused on private and/or online schools
  • Ability to learn Student Information and Learning Management Systems
  • Ability to motivate students and parents toward achieving good academic standing
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse student populations
  • Ability to handle, analyze, reason, and resolve problems
  • Ability to keep and maintain accurate and detailed reports with a focus on student progress monitoring
  • Ability to understand and follow directions
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to read, write, understand, interpret, and apply information at a moderately complex level
  • Math skills at a high school proficiency level
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others
  • Ability to use a computer and office equipment
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds
