About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary finance partner and point of contact for assigned hospital facilities
  • Connect facility leadership with Lifepoint Business Services Finance teams
  • Support the Scion Health financial integration project through accounting data validation, reconciliation reviews, journal entry analysis, process testing, and Oracle transition preparation
  • Review and validate trial balances, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Collaborate with project teams, accounting leadership, and hospital stakeholders to support integration milestones and resolve issues
  • Coordinate the general ledger month-end close process for assigned facilities
  • Ensure completion of close checklists, reconciliations, financial reporting, and post-close analysis
  • Analyze profit and loss statements and balance sheets to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities
  • Partner with hospital CFOs and operational leadership on financial reporting, analysis, monthly operating reviews, and business decisions
  • Coordinate with Technical Accounting and Balance Sheet Management teams on complex accounting matters
  • Support annual budgeting, financial projections, variance explanations, and facility-specific initiatives
  • Monitor accounting controls, identify financial risks, and coordinate issue resolution
  • Support joint venture accounting, reporting, and distributions as applicable
  • Assist with regulatory reporting, audits, tax-related information, and financial compliance requirements
  • Improve accounting processes, standardize workflows, strengthen internal controls, and increase operational efficiency
  • Maintain relationships with facility leadership and internal stakeholders
  • Support additional accounting, financial analysis, and special projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • 5–7 years of experience in healthcare financial operations, hospital finance, or comparable complex accounting environments
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including general ledger accounting, journal entries, month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Experience analyzing profit and loss statements, balance sheets, financial variances, and accounting discrepancies
  • Understanding of revenue recognition, revenue analysis, internal controls, and financial reporting processes
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and financial reporting/accounting systems
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, identify potential risks, and follow issues through resolution
  • Strong interpersonal skills, accountability, attention to detail, and a collaborative, customer-focused approach
  • Ability to support financial integration activities, including reconciliation reviews, data validation, process testing, and cross-functional problem-solving
  • CPA designation or other relevant professional certification preferred
  • Previous hospital accounting, hospital Controller, or healthcare financial leadership experience preferred
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, financial integrations, or accounting system conversions preferred
  • Familiarity with Oracle or other enterprise financial management systems preferred
  • Experience partnering with hospital CFOs, executive leadership, and cross-functional finance teams preferred
  • Experience implementing accounting process improvements and standardization initiatives preferred
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
