About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Interface directly with end-users and vendors to assess, recommend, design, and implement network security solutions, firewall rules, and policies
  • Manage Palo Alto, Cisco, and Fortinet security devices
  • Conduct regular network reviews to identify opportunities to improve security posture
  • Serve as Network Security lead on multifunctional project teams within IT and across lines of business
  • Participate in network security planning, design, and implementation efforts
  • Serve as escalation point for complex network security and remote connectivity challenges
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to gather requirements, design secure solutions, and communicate best practices
  • Provide subject matter expertise on network security, firewalls, zero-trust architectures, and industry best practices
  • Design and implement firewall rules while maintaining security policies and best practices
  • Configure and maintain firewalls, VPN, and IPSEC tunnel solutions
  • Configure and maintain Palo Alto Prisma Access SASE for locations transitioning to SD-WAN
  • Work with the Cybersecurity team to identify and mitigate network security risks
  • Perform periodic firewall reviews against company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
  • Configure, deploy, and support VPN clients across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android
  • Troubleshoot complex connectivity and performance issues
  • Apply upgrades and system patches, perform maintenance, and improve reliability and security posture
  • Develop, communicate, implement, and maintain network policies, standards, and procedures with management
  • Automate network security operations using Ansible, Python, PowerShell, and REST APIs
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Apply healthcare regulatory and compliance knowledge, including HIPAA

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS/BE degree in computer science, cybersecurity or related IT fields, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience as a Network Engineer or Network Security Engineer in a large-scale inter-network environment
  • Proven complex network support experience
  • PCNSE or other intermediate to advanced level industry-recognized certifications preferred
  • Experience implementing and supporting Palo Alto Networks solutions
  • Additional experience with Cisco and Fortinet desirable
  • Preferred experience with Google Cloud and Azure Cloud networks
  • Experience with OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, eBGP, and static routing
  • Ability to troubleshoot via protocol analysis and firewall log review
  • Effective oral and written communication skills required
  • Ability to adhere to project and change management processes and standards
  • Ability to perform technical consulting and problem-solving within a complex enterprise
  • Current working knowledge of MS Office 365 products
  • Remote environment adequate to support daily technical and professional activities
  • Ability to work during normal business hours, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday-Friday, unless otherwise approved
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, sit for extended periods, use hands, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
  • Required vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral and depth vision, and ability to adjust focus
