About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for data center capital equipment, including generators, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, and related mechanical and electrical infrastructure
- Translate approved requirements, budgets, and delivery schedules into sourcing plans and supplier commitments with technical and project teams
- Lead RFIs, RFPs, competitive bid evaluations, supplier negotiations, and award recommendations
- Evaluate total cost of ownership, including acquisition, freight, storage, installation support, commissioning, maintenance, warranties, and spare parts
- Negotiate pricing, payment milestones, delivery commitments, escalation provisions, warranties, cancellation and change rights, and other commercial protections with Legal
- Support owner-furnished equipment purchasing and define supplier, contractor, and LightEdge responsibilities
- Track supplier commitments and manufacturing milestones; identify and escalate supply constraints, delivery risks, and commercial issues
- Support commercial review of construction proposals, statements of work, and change orders
- Develop supplier relationships, purchasing agreements, and demand aggregation and equipment standardization opportunities
- Manage sourcing and commercial negotiations for preventive maintenance, equipment support, repairs, inspections, and facilities service renewals
- Source facilities-related professional services, contractors, facility upgrades, small construction projects, and fit-outs
- Partner with Facilities to develop scopes of work, deliverables, service levels, pricing structures, and acceptance criteria
- Monitor contract expirations, renewal notice requirements, service coverage, and supplier performance
- Establish category plans, sourcing calendars, contract templates, and supplier performance measures
- Follow and improve purchasing, approval, vendor onboarding, and contracting processes
- Maintain sourcing, contract, savings, and supplier records in designated procurement systems
- Report on sourcing activity, financial results, supplier risks, and upcoming commitments
- Coordinate purchasing decisions with business owners while Engineering, Development, and Facilities retain technical approvals and project execution
- Report to the Director of Strategic Procurement as a hands-on, single contributor
Requirements
What you’ll need- Seven or more years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, or related commercial roles
- Demonstrated experience sourcing major electrical or mechanical equipment and construction or facilities services for mission-critical or complex industrial environments
- Working knowledge of critical power, cooling, and facility infrastructure
- Experience negotiating equipment purchase agreements, maintenance contracts, professional services agreements, and construction statements of work
- Understanding of long-lead equipment procurement, supplier capacity, project schedules, lifecycle costs, and commercial risk
- Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and operate independently
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience
- Direct experience supporting data center development, expansion, or critical facility operations preferred
- Experience with owner-furnished equipment and coordination among owners, manufacturers, contractors, and commissioning teams preferred
- Experience with facilities maintenance programs, service-level agreements, contractor sourcing, and construction change orders preferred
- Familiarity with Coupa, ServiceNow, contract management platforms, and construction project systems preferred
- Relevant procurement, supply chain, or project management certification preferred
- Ability to travel as needed to LightEdge facilities, project sites, and supplier locations; estimated at 20%
