About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Adapt complex software interfaces and support documentation for native Shona users
- Localize global campaigns and brand voices for the Shona-speaking market
- Localize product and UI listings using regional naming logic and formatting standards
- Uphold quality benchmarks and align content with brand identity
- Coordinate with production and quality leads to deliver projects on schedule and within client specifications
- Complete onboarding, payment setup, and community enrollment after selection and testing
Requirements
What you’ll need- Native-level proficiency in Shona
- A graduate qualification in translation, linguistics, or language studies, OR a graduate qualification in another field plus 2 years of full-time professional translation experience, OR 5 years of full-time professional translation experience
- Ability to follow terminology and reference materials precisely
- Proven professional experience in translation and localization within marketing, UI/software, or e-commerce content
- Experience with app or platform localization preferred
- Reliable availability and commitment; most tasks require a minimum of 2 hours per day or 10 hours per week
- Ability to provide an updated CV in English
- Must complete a domain-specific test if required
- Contractors cannot be engaged in regions subject to international embargoes or sanctions
- Contractors are solely responsible for their own tax obligations
