Key responsibilities & impact

Adapt complex software interfaces and support documentation for native Somali users
Localize global marketing campaigns and brand voices for Somali-speaking markets
Localize product and e-commerce copy, including UI listings
Apply regional naming logic and formatting standards
Uphold quality benchmarks and brand identity
Coordinate with production and quality leads to deliver projects on schedule and within client specifications
Contribute to AI and language technology projects
Complete onboarding, payment setup, and community registration after selection and testing

Requirements

What you’ll need

Native-level proficiency in Somali
A graduate qualification in translation, linguistics, or language studies, OR a graduate qualification in another field plus 2 years of full-time professional translation experience, OR 5 years of full-time professional translation experience
Ability to follow terminology and reference materials precisely
Proven professional experience in translation and localization within marketing, UI/software, or e-commerce content
Experience with app or platform localization preferred
Reliable availability and commitment; most tasks require a minimum of 2 hours per day or 10 hours per week
Contractors cannot be engaged in regions subject to international embargo or sanctions
Sole responsibility for personal tax obligations
Updated CV in English required
Must complete a domain-specific test if required and pass it before onboarding
