About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of government and public-sector clients
  • Deliver strategic guidance, ongoing support, and exceptional service to ensure client success and retention
  • Provide comprehensive onsite and remote training and onboarding for the GovDeals auction marketplace
  • Drive client utilization and performance through follow-ups, proactive outreach, and consultative recommendations
  • Collaborate with the Territory Business Development Manager to support new client acquisition and strengthen existing relationships
  • Defend accounts against competitive threats
  • Represent GovDeals at conferences, trade shows, and industry events
  • Deliver hands-on field support, including asset cataloging, gathering descriptions, and photographing items
  • Monitor and review client auction listings for quality, compliance, and best practices
  • Identify inactive or underutilized accounts and execute re-engagement strategies
  • Present to prospective clients and explain the GovDeals platform’s value for transparency, efficiency, and revenue generation
  • Act as a professional ambassador for GovDeals when interacting with government entities and the public sector

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate’s degree preferred; prior coursework or experience related to business, public administration, sales, or customer service is a plus
  • Minimum of 1+ years of hands-on experience in account management, customer success, client services, or a related client-facing role
  • Experience with government agencies, municipalities, school districts, or other public-sector organizations strongly preferred
  • Experience in frequent-travel, onsite client engagement, or field-based support roles highly desirable
  • Strong ability to build, maintain, and grow long-term government and public-sector client relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deliver training and professional presentations
  • Experience managing a book of business, identifying growth opportunities, increasing utilization, and re-engaging inactive accounts
  • Ability to collaborate with sales and internal partners
  • Comfort using web-based platforms, online marketplaces, CRM systems, email, word processing, spreadsheets, and internet tools
  • Strong attention to detail when reviewing auction listings, asset descriptions, and images
  • Ability to manage a remote workload, prioritize competing demands, and maintain productivity with minimal supervision
  • Ability to catalog assets, gather descriptions, and photograph items in indoor and outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 60% within the assigned territory
  • Professionalism, credibility, and sound judgment when interacting with government entities, public-sector stakeholders, and the general public
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation
  • Professional, quiet, distraction-free workspace with reliable high-speed internet and cellular service
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout the assigned territory, including overnight stays and extended periods away from the primary work location
  • Ability to operate standard office and mobile technology, transport a laptop and presentation materials, and communicate by phone, video, email, and in person
