About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead end-to-end drafting, review, and negotiation of complex commercial agreements, including enterprise SaaS, strategic partnerships, and vendor contracts
- Advise Product and Engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle on regulatory, intellectual property, and contractual frameworks
- Contribute to Lob’s data privacy strategy by translating GDPR and CCPA frameworks into operational practices
- Conduct privacy impact assessments
- Lead negotiation of data processing agreements
- Oversee corporate compliance programs
- Establish internal policies and targeted training initiatives
- Execute strategic vendor audits
- Engineer scalable legal workflows, automated self-service templates, and cross-functional playbooks
- Partner with the General Counsel on special projects, ad-hoc legal matters, and strategic initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5-7+ years of relevant legal experience, with a strong preference for in-house experience
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with at least one state bar
- Familiarity with legal risks and business issues in an enterprise SaaS environment
- Ability to manage a high volume of work autonomously
- Ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business advice
- Ability to make quick, risk-adjusted decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Preferred: experience advising People/HR teams on employment lifecycle matters
- Preferred: experience managing corporate litigation or pre-litigation dispute resolution alongside outside counsel
- Preferred: experience counseling businesses where SaaS platforms connect with physical products
- Preferred: experience supporting supply chain operations, including logistics and shipping
- Preferred: experience managing capitalization tables and administering employee equity programs using platforms such as Carta
