About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage assigned federal and state income tax compliance activities for Longroad Energy and its affiliates, primarily U.S. operating partnerships
- Maintain the income tax compliance calendar and manage statutory and stakeholder deadlines
- Coordinate preparation and timely filing of federal and state tax returns, estimates, and extensions
- Support quarterly income tax forecasting and partnership capital account projections
- Review tax calculations and deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and applicable requirements
- Identify and resolve tax compliance issues with internal and external stakeholders
- Oversee outside tax accounting firms preparing U.S. federal and state income tax returns and quarterly partnership capital account projections
- Coordinate required financial information and supporting documentation, including trial balances and GAAP-to-tax adjustment support
- Review external tax advisor deliverables and manage advisor timelines
- Apply partnership tax concepts, including GAAP-to-tax adjustments, partnership allocations, tax basis balance sheets, and fixed and intangible asset depreciation and amortization
- Review audited financial statements and operating agreement tax provisions
- Partner with Accounting, Finance, and other stakeholders to gather information and support accurate tax reporting
- Research and analyze tax matters and escalate complex or material issues to Tax leadership
- Maintain supporting documentation for tax filings and compliance activities
- Assist with tax department policies, procedures, controls, and documentation standards
- Improve tax compliance and reporting processes
- Support other tax projects and initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Certified public accountant and/or Master’s degree in taxation
- Minimum of five years prior experience in tax compliance with U.S. operating partnerships
- Strong analytical, communication, time management and organizational skills
- Strong technical tax skills, including GAAP-to-tax adjustments for taxable income, partnership allocations, tax basis balance sheets, and fixed/intangible asset depreciation and amortization
- Ability to read and understand audited financial statements and apply relevant operating agreement tax provisions
- Ability to independently manage a tax compliance calendar and outside tax accounting firms
- Minimum of three years of recent experience with a large public accounting firm strongly preferred
- Tax experience in the renewable energy, real estate or aircraft leasing industries
- Experience working with complex partnership structures and multi-state tax compliance
- Experience supporting tax forecasting and partnership capital account projections
- Ability to independently manage competing priorities and deadlines, while knowing when to escalate material issues
